The venue is suited for both Pacers and Spinners alike.
HYD vs KOL, Head to Head
In the 19 matches played between these 2 teams, Kolkata have won 11 matches and Hyderabad have won 7 matches. Kolkata Batsmans have earned the most fantasy points for their team, while Bowlers have earned the most fantasy points for Hyderabad.
HYD vs KOL Dream11 Prediction: Batters and Wicket-Keepers
David Warner is one of the most consistent players in the Indian T20 league. He has scored 500+ runs in each of his last 6 seasons and so he can guarantee fantasy points in every match.
Warner has scored 47*, 36, 67, 85, 37 & 126 runs against Kolkata in his last 6 IPL matches which accounts for an average of close to a staggering 70 fantasy points per match.
Warner has a Fantasy Gully rating of 10 which is the highest amongst all players for this fixture and certainly makes him a captaincy prospect for this match.
He can be very crucial in the powerplay overs as the Kolkata Pace attack barring Pat Cummins (against whom he must have played a lot as they both play for NSW and Australia), is relatively weak in terms of T20 experience and he can dominate the spinners as well.
Jonny Bairstow is relatively new in the Indian T20 league as he has played only 2 seasons but in both these seasons, he was very good with the bat. Overall, in the IPL Bairstow has scored 790 runs in 21 matches at a heavy strike rate of 142 which accounts for an average of 45+ fantasy points per match (only batting stats considered).
He has a good record against Kolkata in the IPL (160 runs scored in 4 matches at an SR of 138). Because of his current form in T20 cricket and his record against Kolkata he has a Fantasy Gully rating of 8.9 which is phenomenal.
Along with the runs, he can even fetch you an extra 8 to 16 points with his wicketkeeping skills which is a bonus considering he is also going to scores big runs.
Shubhman Gill scored 440 runs in 14 matches last season (which accounted for an average of 40+ fantasy points per match) and was the highest run-getter for Kolkata.
He will open in all the matches for Kolkata this season as well and thus can be a player who can give you maximum points in a match as he bats longer. He plays spinners very well and thus can be a good pick on the Chennai track.
Last season, he had scored 70* & 36 in his 2 matches vs Hyderabad, and thus he will be hoping to perform the same way.
HYD vs KOL Dream11 Prediction: Bowlers
Rashid Khan has played 4 seasons in the Indian T20 league and in each of these seasons he has managed to take at least 17 wickets which shows that he is a consistent performer and fantasy points are guaranteed if he is in your team.
Last season he took 20 wickets in his 16 matches at an impressive economy of 5.38 and thus he can fetch an economy bonus as well in every odd match along-with 25 points of the wickets.
Post the Indian T20 league last year, he played in 24 T20 matches across different leagues in which he took 34 wickets at an impressive economy of 6.97 and in very few of these matches he was wicket-less which again proves the fact that he can guarantee you fantasy points in every game.
He has a Fantasy gully rating of 8.8 which is the highest among all the bowlers for this fixture and hence he should be a must-have in your team.
Pat Cummins has improved phenomenally over the years as a bowler in all three formats of cricket.
Last season he struggled to get going in the initial half of the tournament as he had taken only 2 wickets in his first 8 matches. But in the later half of the tournament, he ended up taking 10 wickets in his next 6 matches.
Cummins has a great experience and his changes up deliveries (slower ones and others) can be very effective at the back end on the innings given that he will most probably bowl 2 overs at the death and can restrict the Hyderabad hard hitters like Vijay Shankar, Jadhav and Holder.
Varun Chakravarthy was the leading wicket taker for Kolkata last season with 17 wickets in 13 matches played and thus he had given an average of at least 35 fantasy points which is good enough for any player to feature in the Dream team.
He is a mystery spinner and bowls at a very decent economy and thus there is a chance that he can give economy bonus as well along-with 25 fantasy points of wickets.
Given that this match is at Chennai, it will be an added advantage for him to show his mystery spin skill as Chennai is a spin-friendly track.
He can be picked in your team at a relatively cheaper price than most of the other bowlers or all-rounders and thus can be a budget friendly pick.
HYD vs KOL Dream11 Prediction: All-Rounders
Andre Russell scored 117 runs and took 6 wickets in 10 matches that he played last season which accounted for an average of 30 fantasy points per match, however he was injury bound last season and could not play freely in most of the matches last season.
He played the Lanka Premier League recently in which he scored 169 runs at a strike rate of 194.25 and took 8 wickets in as many matches, and thus we got to see the Andre Russell we know who gave an average of 45 to 50 fantasy points per match in that series.
Most of his runs are scored in boundaries (fours and sixes) which will be additional fantasy points.
If he is 100% match fit like he was in the LPL earlier, he can also end up bowling 3 to 4 overs regularly and thus can fetch you fantasy points in the form of wickets as well.
Vijay Shankar played only 7 matches last season (was out in most of the matches due to injury) and in these 7 matches he scored 97 runs and took 4 wickets (economy of 6.22) which accounted for an average of 30+ fantasy points per match.
He can be the perfect solution for Hyderabad’s middle order issue which has been not performing well in the last couple of seasons and can come in and score runs in the crucial middle overs.
He can chip in with 2 to 3 overs if needed and on a track like Chennai (which is his domestic home ground) he can come in more than handy as he does not bowl quick and relies more on his slower deliveries.
As context in one of the recent internal practice match of Hyderabad, he scored 95* (from 50 balls) and thus he looks in good rhythm.
