Qalandars captain Sohail Akhtar had never played T10 cricket before this season. Yet, he comes in as the captain of Qalandars and leads the team to three consecutive wins.

He is the only skipper in the tournament with a 100 per cent win record among 22 captains who have led in three or more matches.

He is also the only captain so far in this season to lead the team while defending a total of less than 130. Moreover, it is Sohail Akhtar’s performances which speaks for him as well.

From three games, he has scored 131 runs at a strike rate of 214.75 without getting dismissed. His 131 runs are the fifth most runs without getting dismissed in the tournament.

Sohail Akhtar’s tally of 131 runs also includes the match-winning fifty he scored in the last match. 

Also, under his leadership Qalandars have won three consecutive matches for the first time in the tournament. Qalandars are also the sixth team to win three consecutive matches in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.

Inconsistent Abdul Shakoor Shakoor

In the opening match of the season, Abdul Shakoor Bangash played a brilliant innings of 73 from just 28 balls. However, in the next two innings, he has batted totally opposite to what he showed in the opening game.

Notably, Abdul Shakoor Bangash seemed struggling leg-spinners in matches 5 and 7 as his strike rate against them was 75 in those two games. Due to his poor batting in the last two games, Shakoor’s overall strike rate has dropped to 178.33, which is certainly not good enough in T10.

This is also the lowest strike rate by a Maratha Arabians batsman in a season with 100+ runs.

Though, his average is still 53.50, which includes a fifty. Moreover, a total of eight players have amassed 100+ runs so far in this season of the tournament. Among them as well, Abdul Shakoor Bangash has the lowest strike rate.

Sohail Tanvir must step up

Pacer Sohail Tanvir had quite a reputation in T10 but it seems to have faded in this season. In previous editions of the tournament, Sohail Tanvir scalped seven wickets with an economy of 8.61. But at Abu Dhabi, Tanvir is not only struggling to take wickets but also no more economical.

For Qalandars, Sohail Tanvir and Ahmed Daniyal are the two wicketless bowlers despite bowling 5+ overs in a single season of the tournament. In this season, he is among the eight bowlers who are yet to take a wicket despite bowling 5+ overs in this season of the tournament.
