The West Indies vs Sri Lanka series, from March 3 to April 2, will feature three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests. Chris Gayle will be back on international duty.
West Indies will host the Sri Lankan cricket team for a full-fledged, all-format tour, which begins with the first of the three T20Is on March 3 followed by three ODIs and two Tests.
The 20-over matches will be played at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, while the 50-over and Tests will take place at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. Both venues in Antigua will be bio-secured for the entire tour.
The home team will be led by Kieron Pollard in the white-ball formats, while the Test squad is yet to be announced.
West Indies, who are the reigning World T20 champions, have called veterans Chris Gayle and Fidel Edwards for the shortest format in the run-up to the T20 World Cup scheduled for later this year.
Chris Gayle last featured in a T20I two years ago while Fidel Edwards is slated for an international comeback after nine years.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, faced a setback before the commencement of the tour as their head coach Mickey Arthur and batsman Lahiru Thirimanne contracted COVID-19.
The Asian nation’s T20I captain, Dasun Shanaka, will also be unavailable for the initial matches due to visa issues. Angelo Matthews has been named the stand-in skipper for the shortest format.
